What We Do

The purpose of the Youth Development Partnerships, Inc. (YDP) is to provide transformative experiences for children in under-resourced communities overseas and to provide volunteer leadership opportunities for US high school students. Children who do not have access to the resources or means to participate in sports and other activities are aided by week-long day camps that are designed, funded, and implemented by this organization. YDP camps foster the growth of children’s knowledge and enjoyment of a sport and other activities through the commitment, care, and skill of volunteers from the US in partnership with other youth serving organizations in target communities. Currently, YDP draws volunteers from the town of Harvard in Massachusetts and targets youth in under-privileged communities in Cape Town, South Africa. Expansion to other communities is anticipated in the coming years.

About Us

Our History

YDP was founded by a group of soccer players from the Bromfield School in Harvard, Massachusetts. After soccer programs, offered by their town’s youth club and school, played a pivotal role in lives, the players decided that they wanted to give back by creating great soccer experiences for other kids. They spent a number of weekends, in their junior high school year, washing trucks to raise money for the first event they sponsored. The first event sponsored, in July 2022, was a weeklong school holiday soccer camp for children from underprivileged communities in Cape Town, South Africa. The camp, organized in collaboration with a South African based non-profit, was a huge success with over 120 kids attending. The founding team funded 100% of the camp and sent 4 volunteers to help run the camp. Following the success of the first camp, and the need the volunteers witnessed as they toured communities in Cape Town, the founding members decided to start a non-profit to ensure the program would be an annual event.
